Because we here at Pink Robin care about you and our greater queer community, we spent a Saturday afternoon crafting the perfect cocktails so that you wouldn’t have to. Now we have two exquisite recipes to share, and the best part? They’re made with ingredients from queer-owned brands, some of which can be purchased right here at Pink Robin!
The espresso martini craze is in full tilt, and we’re here for it. Although I take mine decaf, the very first sip of an espresso martini signals to both my brain and taste buds that I’m about to have an excellent time. A little bitter. A little sweet. Just like me.
Erica, our CEO and co-founder, takes her cocktails seriously. Choosing only the finest ingredients, she appreciates the fine art of crafting a cocktail and serving it in just the right glass. And she isn’t afraid to get a little creative with her ingredients.
Here’s the recipe so you can make your own:
Burnt Sugar Bourbon
- 3/4 cup of Dark Muscovado Sugar (or sub dark brown sugar)
- 2 Cups of bourbon (+ 2 extra shots, about 1.5 ounces each)
Melt the sugar in a pot over medium heat. Add a shot of bourbon and stir often. Let it bubble but not burn. It should give off a rich aroma. Stir in another shot of bourbon and remove from heat. Pour into a jar and add 2 cups of bourbon. Let it cool, then seal with a lid and shake until the sugar mixture is fully integrated into the bourbon.
Burnt Sugar Bourbon Espresso Martini
- 2 ounces Republic Restoratives bourbon infused with dark muscovado sugar
- 1 ounce room temperature espresso (Erica used espresso from queer-owned Equator Coffees)
- Hoochie Daddy maple and black walnut bitters from The Bitter Gay
- Splash of coffee infused maple syrup
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the bourbon, espresso, a few shakes of bitters and a splash of coffee infused maple syrup. Shake like hell! Pour into a coupe glass. Top with a few coffee beans if you’re feeling fancy. Toast with friends and enjoy.
Next up: A classic. I really love a French 75. It combines two of my favorite things, afterall–gin and prosecco! Our take on the French 75 was especially celebratory. Made with Pink House Alchemy’s sage simple syrup, this flavor boost elevated the cocktail experience.
Pink House Alchemy Sage French 75
- 1 ounce Republic Restoratives gin
- ½ ounce fresh lime juice
- ½ ounce Pink House Alchemy blackberry sage simple syrup
- 3 ounces prosecco
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the gin, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake until chilled and strain into a flute or coupe. Top with champagne and a lime wheel or twist of lemon. Toast with friends and enjoy.
Time to stock up on your favorites for the upcoming holiday season. Cheers Queers!
